Titanium corrosion resistance performance

Titanium is a very reactive metal with a low equilibrium potential, which has a strong tendency

Titanium is a very reactive metal with a low equilibrium potential, making it prone to thermodynamic corrosion in various media. However, titanium is quite stable in many environments, such as in oxidizing, neutral, and weakly reducing media, where it exhibits corrosion resistance. This is due to the strong affinity between titanium and oxygen, which leads to the formation of a dense, strongly adherent, and inert oxide film on the surface of titanium in air or oxygen-containing media, protecting the titanium substrate from corrosion. Even mechanical wear can quickly self-heal or regenerate. This indicates that titanium is a metal with a strong tendency to passivate. The oxide film on titanium maintains this characteristic at temperatures below 315°C.
